Owner of building is fitting out space for tenants, I bide job the correct way and they shoot the numbers down. They say “this is what you have to work with” I walk! guy comes in and cuts sooooo many corners! I think he was layed off from his regular job! They call me back to to fix everything so i write a report of what should be corrected! It is 20 percent more than original bid I gave them! Is it not amazing that they allways have the money to “Do it over”
Frustrated but going to fix it!!

Get in there and get it done, figure out how to save them a little money and all the time, tell them you would like the opportunity to get in on the next project from the get go so that you can save them money from the get go, get the job done as quickly as possble by doing it the first time right.
That's a good strong positive message. If they didn't learn their lesson then they never will.
It doesn't make him look good to say I told you so. Let them think or say it. "There are three kinds of men: The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."Will Rogers
Yep. I go and do clean up behind other contractors, yet the client sometimes picks up the lowest bidder on the next job as well. I dont go back cleaning up 2x for the same guy.
I tell them that I dont make much money on the clean up but do it for the future opportunity and if they dont appreciate what I bring to the table, that is ok.
I want to work with discriminating clients who appreicate a builder who is watching out for their best interest, giving them good suggestions and taking care of the little details without nickeling and diming them.
I dont want to work with people who dont appreciate that.
