Thinking about removing the fiberglas camper shell off the pickup and replacing it with a flat tonneau cover. Looking for advice. I don’t think i want the canvas cover that snaps in place. But I’m not suire I want the clamshell cover that doesn’t open very far either.
I’m no olonger in the businerss so i don’t need the room under the fiberglass shell, and i don’t need to carry much. But I do want to be able to have a rain tight cargo area. Essentially everything I carry now fits within the cargo box.
I have seen ads for one model that is semi-rigid and fold in three sections. Is that any good?

i like this one, i had one on my ford crewcab pickup f350 model with short bed/wheelbase and it is really light, i could put it on and take it off by myself. its a lot easier with two, but i did it several times.
i think the material is a variation of ABS and mine lasted really well, but the truck had problems, ended up lemon lawing the 2004 6.0 diesel so only had it a couple of years.
it had locks on it, and was weathertite, no leaks on mine.

this is just the first link i came across, not the manufacturer, there may be better deals.
I had seen that while surfing. I liked what I read, looking for real-life comments."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

They make one that has velcro as a way to hold it down, works good. We had one on a work truck and another guy at work has one and both of them have held up fine for a long time.
Roll it up, roll it back and sorta snap the end in place, works like a charm.
Sorry dont know any brand names though.

I have a Truxedo cover on my truck. It is a soft cover that rolls up, the sides are vel-cro with a snap in latch at the rear. Very nice and very easy to use.
This is one of the best out there. Low profile, easy to remove and attach, nice and dry.

Is the chick in the black dress always in there when you open it?

Yes
Have you looked at the roll types? I've got the flat fiberglass cover, but if I had the choice I would have got the roll-up type for the flexibility.
Mine is removable, but FYI it's a little time consuming realigning everything when I put it back on.
What goes up must come down unless it gets into a stable orbit.
I have the Pace Edwards Jackrabbit. It is strong, looks great, and keeps stuff dry. I can still use my truck as a truck and not worry about it being in the way when I need to fill the bed up with tools, mulch, whatever (10,000# of cut stone last weekend)

Fast Eddie..
the trouble with those fiberglas covers is sooner or later you'll want to bring something home that won't fit under it.. Now what do you do?
That's the reason I bought a canvas tonneau cover.. I simply roll it up, put the top bows with it and find a place to store it.. I reinstall it when I get home.. 3 minutes off 3 back on.
Believe me my sales literature can't get wet and I drive a regular cab truck so I don't have interior storage space.. Since we sometimes get feet of snow here and sometimes it floods rain I needed a good one and thus far the one I've bought averages a little over 6 years before I replace it. I think I spend about $250 each time..
I have had a 3 piece Aero cover for 12 years. It was first on a railroad chev 1500 that I bought 3rd hand and drove for 10 years,so its seen a lot of use. I just put it on my Ford 250. I carry appliances on top of it, 10 sheets of sheetrock + 2x4s ,you can walk on it and remove individual sections in seconds if need be. Heck, I bought that orange Chevy just because of the Aerocover.
Check out the Truxedo tonneau cover I got it on mine last year and im glad I did.
Every thing under it stays dry. You just pull two little latches and roll it up to the front of the truck and attach it with the two velcro straps. its rolled on and off really quick which is what I was looking for.
