Can anyone tell me how to embed a picture in my post so it shows up automatically (without having to click on the attachment)?
Thanks.
Jay
I'll try a search as well :-)
hmmmm...I found some info saying to copy and past the attach from my own post (copy to clipboard - hit the back button - revise...but no can do on the paste...is it because I'm using Mozilla Firefox?I hope I can answer myself here shortly.Jay

let's try again...
ahhh crud
I use this line:<img src="">You paste the URL for the picture in between the quote marks. And you ahve to check the box at the bottom of the post that says "Check here if HTML tags are in the message"You may have to use the following to start new paragraphs:</p>You can use this to make a horizontal line:<hr/>

Well, it worked...sort of. I didn't realize the first pic was so large...hmmm...
after you type the text, or most of it and attach the files go to Preview. Open your attached files in new windows. Go to those new windows and copy the (rt clik, chose copy) and the return to your post with text and place them accordingly.
Thanks John...I think that's what I was trying orginally. I could copy the image, but when I went back to "revise" I couldn't paste..the option is greyed out, like there is nothing on my clipboard.I think I read elswhere here awhile back that it has something to do with using Firefox as opposed to IE...I dunno...my head kind of hurts now.J
I'm a glutton for punishment...let's try yet again.

sheeesh...this gets tiring...:-)
I hope it works.
Obviously these files are to large...right? Should I be resizing to 50kb or so? Thanks.Jay
And see if this makes sense...this is how I have to go about it using Firefox.I have to make the post and attach the pics...then post it (previewing and copying and pasting the image isn't working)After I've actually posted I keep my post open on one monitor and reply to that post on another monitor (2 windows with breaktime open). In my reply (to myself) I am copying the image url into my reply...and then posting again. This can't be right, can it? Or am I just not the sharpest crayon in the box?J

"In my reply I am copying the image url into my reply...and then posting again."
Yup - You got it.
Make sure you copy the URL for each picture and post it in different lines. (And between the quote marks)
Live simply...so I can have the stuff you don't use
Thank you...I think I need a beer now.Jay
Now I can't attach ANY files...did I hit my quota already? arrrgggghhh

Your picture links should look like this:<img src="http://forums.taunton.com/n/mb/at.asp?webtag=tp-breaktime&guid=EC8815DC-82A6-423D-9EB1-0543A3A27ECF&frames=no">

Ya gotta use some sort of "spacer" between the pictures, or they end up being side by side.Like this:</p></p></p>

Let me give you an axample. When you post a couple of pictures, the post should look like this BEFORE you check the box. </p></p></p>

geez, I hope this works...I could've typed up war and peace by now ;-)
I can't paste using Mozilla, but i can't attach using IE, so i have both browsers open, attach with Mozilla, open that post in IE, click "Edit". I can go back to my Mozilla browser for copying, then paste in my IE window. I can do all my copying and pasting before i click "apply" in my IE window.
I always resize to 800X600 for pics posted in line. That in itself should take care of the file size issue.
I'm not 40-something. I'm $39.95, plus shipping and handling.
Gracias, I'll keep that in mind...would I reverse that for a "portrait" oriented pic? Thanks.Jay
does ctrl v work in FF?
No John it doesn't, I tried that as well...way back in first few posts...never hurts to try though. It does seem crazy to have to go through all this...but I do feel like I accomplished something...of course I've had some cheat sheets to move me along.Jay
You know what's funny? I've been posting a bit lately on this diy forum to try and help out...http://www.diychatroom.com/showthread.php?t=22497http://www.diychatroom.com/showthread.php?t=22360If posting pics would have been this hard over there I would have never posted...I wouldn't have probably spent the time to figured it out.On that site I just browse and attach and pics and they are automatically embedded (I think it also resizes pics automatically too).It was nice to learn how, so thanks again for all the help.Jay

</p><br></p>~~~A lot of those </p>'s are a waste of typing, or even copy/pasting...To get space at the top, use the <br> first.<p> is supposed to start a paragraph, </p> is supposed to end a paragraph. But I have found that here at breaktime, all you need is the <p> at the beginning of a paragraph. The software assumes the </p>.Typing, (or copying), in several <p>s does nothing in this software. It does not give you extra space, unless you type something else between them. (And not just hitting the spacebar. LOL)If you really want space, you have to type...<p><br><p><br><p> Extend that as long as you want. You'll get two to three blank lines in the post for every <p><br> Also, I think it looks better with just some space between the pics, and no line.Hence I would put in the image code, then a <p>, then the image code again.~~~This is how I would have written the above code, instead...<br>

Using firefox to get the pic in the post...You first write the post the way you want it to show. Then you go back and write in the code.To put blank space at the top of your post, (and at the bottom, if you wish.), use <br>Using <br> within your text will cause the following text to drop down one line. No blank space. It's just like hitting the return on a typewriter to take you to the next line, down.<p> to start a new paragraph. This puts a blank line between the previous text, and the text following the <p>To put a picture into the post...The code for that is <p><img src="">You put the url for the image between the quote marks.Don't forget to check the "html" box below the edit box, before you hit the post button.~~~Now, the easy way to get that picture url...Do all the above. (Do not hit the post button.)Attach a pic, or pics to the post. When the pics are attached, click "done" in the attachment window, and close that window. Now, instead of hitting post, hit the Preview button. You will see a preview of your post, with the attachments.RIGHT click on one of the attachments. (Do not open the attachement.) In the dropdown menu, choose, "Copy link location".Now hit the revise button. Now right click with the cursor between the quote marks, and from the resulting dropdown menu, choose paste. If you have more than one image, and want them all in the post, you'll have to then hit the "preview" button again, and right click on the next attachment, then hit the "revise" button again, and paste that next url, into the next image tag code. Keep doing this until you have all the urls in the image tags. It's fast and easy, once you have done it a time or two. It only seems complicated.
Thank you...more info to print out. Right about the time I start getting all this they'll probably change the forum software...to where you can just "attach"... :-) ...that's the way it usually goes. Thanks again to everyone for all the help.Jay
I think you know this by now but, yes your issue is due to Firefox vs Mzinga (formerly Prospero). The procedure you initially tried works with ie. BUT after you have the pics embedded with the copy paste using ie, if you go back and edit wit firefox it all gets dumped.TFB (Bill)
Thanks Bill, and yeah, I think (i said think) I've got it...for now. I'll just have to practice (and swear) a little more until it sticks for good.Jay
Oh brother!
I wish I understood at least some of this.
I think I'll stick to bangin nails.
one other thought about resizing the pics, get them down to around 100kb or less. Make the dial uppers happy.I just take the pics into Irfanview and go ImageResize and hit [HALF] twice and then save the image and all is good. Later
TFB (Bill)
I think my last batch (out of 100!) were around 60kb each. I'm probably going to have nightmares about all of this tonight...aaahhhh the evil picture post is coming to get me!!!!Jay
