Pipe selection for relocating well pressure tank
I’m relocating my pressure tank from under a crawlspace (where its plumbing tends to freeze) into the heated basement. I’ll need to run about 30′ of pipe from the spot where the 1″ black poly well tubing enters the crawlspace to the tank’s new location. About 8′ of this will be underground in the crawlspace, and I’m planning on using 1″ black poly tube for that part, but I’m not sure what approach to take once it gets inside the basement.
I seem to recall seeing somewhere that black poly tubing can’t be used indoors for potable water. Is this true? If it can be used indoors, I’ll just run it all the way to the tank’s new location.
If I can’t use it indoors, my current plan is to find some 1″ PEX and use that for the indoor run. I’d prefer not to buy a 100′ coil of black poly just to use 8′ of it, but it’s not a huge problem. Is 1″ PEX commonly available at plumbing supply shops? I know Lowe’s and HD don’t carry it but haven’t yet checked anywhere else. Does this sound reasonable? Could I get away with running 3/4 PEX instead, or would I be risking problems associated with the tank filling more slowly? (Our well system works great right now, so I don’t want to do anything that would upset it.)
Thanks!

1) Where is your pump?
2) Are you sure that the line from the well is only 1"? That sounds a hair small.
1) It's a submersible pump, so it's down at the bottom of the well.
2) I'm positive the well line is 1" -- it's marked on the side of the pipe and I just double checked by measuring the ID of a piece of off-cut that was left in the crawlspace. If 1" sounds small, then I'm guessing reducing it to 3/4" inside the house is going to be a bad idea?

No.
As far as I know, it's just not rated for hot water use. There is no problem with room temperature interior use. I used this pipe up to my PEX manifold.
Excellent -- that's the answer I was hoping for. Thanks!
Black Poly
I think your best bet is to ask your local jurisdiction whether you can run poly the whole distance, most areas I've worked with will only allow it to stub in, from that point you have to run another approved type
