I sprayed some cabinets with oil based primer and got a little overspray on the new wall oven I installed. Anyway, not thinking I cleaned It off real quick with mineral spirits and now the black plastic is kinda dull and foggy. Not real bad but of course my customer already asked about it and I said its no big deal, I’ll handle it by the end of the job. So what can I use to restore the plastic to its shiny black, or do I have to order a new display front for the oven?

Are you sure the plastic took the hit or is there a paint haze still on the surface, I wouldn't think mineral spirts would have attacked plastic like that.
No one should regard themselve as "God's gift to man." But rather a mere man whos gifts are from God.
Yeah I think so, there was a little black on the rag after rubbing
If it really is the plastic, just do a Google search on " polishing plastic" you will find all there is to know.
Yeah, I'd try polishing the plastic. One source of polish is automotive products from an auto parts store -- look for something specifically for polishing plastic.
"or do I have to order a new display front for the oven?"
Is this the kind where you can take the panel out of the front and replace it ?
If so, have you tried just flipping that panel over ?
Its the black trim not the display plastic that is foggy. I wish. I bought some stuff by mothers at advanced auto, called back to black. We'll see.
Please let us know if the "Back to Black" stuff works.
I'm sorry to say that I personally think you are screwed.
I've tried polishing very fine scratches out of my plastic eyeglass lenses...bought the right stuff...so I thought...polishing only made it worse.
I've tried restoring plastic finish on car bumpers...they were hazy ...after polishing, they were still hazy.
Hope your luck is better than mine.

Polishing compound from an auto-body supplier; if that's not fine enough, get some jeweler's rouge.
If that doesn't work, try toothpaste (the standard white stuff; not the gel type).
Oh, yeah--add to any of these products lots of patience....

This being a clients house I would just purchase and install a new plastic trim piece.
If it was my house I would not be happy if someone just tried to polish out a mistake like that.
