I’m about to order some bags and was wondering if anyone had general impresions of the merits of plastic Vs leather.
I am looking at the Oxy-liyes from oxidental leather. I think Oxidental is a good product. I have to narrow down the search so I think they have a good selection and good quality. I found the individual bags for $39. That’s not bad.
I’ve always worn leather but the lites are much lighter. The leather two pouch bag is 1.3 Lbs as too 0.8 for the lite. But the leather learns your shape and what you put in them so after a while it is a cortom fit.
The reason I don’t like my replacement bags I have now is because they don’t fit right. Every time I reach for my tape I’m reminded of it. And I reach for my tape alot!
I’m prepared to order a few models of bags and return the ones I don’t like. I can’t tell over the internet. There are no dealers in my area that I know of but I will try today. Thanks! let the battle begin! Plastic Vs leather!!!!

Someone gave me a very nice set of nylon bags (actually I have at least two sets hanging up that I got as gifts). But I have leather Oxy's and despite the weight there's just nothing I've found as comfortable. Not to mention I just don't like the feel of nylon, Cordura, whatever it is. Granted I don't give mine the use of many others out there but that's my two cents worth.
Went with Cordura setup from Kuny's 18 mo ago and havent looked back. Always had leather Cadillac aprons before that, but even those wear out. I like the greater comfort of the wide padded belt and the bigger pockets. The Kunys show little sign of wear so far, and the rim of each pocket is stiffened so that it always stands open. Well made product and the most comfortable rig I've ever had. I got rid of my suspenders to lighten the whole thing up - found that the load transfers to the hips so well that it was less comfortable with the suspenders bringing the shoulders into play.
I am starting out with the bags but might go for the padded wide belt also. I'll see if the bags do it or I need that wide padded belt. They sure look good!!! Especially the cordura ones because they don't weigh alot.
Trust me, get the padded belt. Then mix and match till you get the right combination of bags, hammer loops, drill holsters etc. The wide padded belts are comfy beyond belief.Lignum est bonum.
I looked at the padded belts today and put them on my favorites. I ordered two bags today also. One oxy-light trimmer bag and one oxy-light double bag. Funny, they only had one of each. I'm going to parade around the house with them and decide which one I like best. Yes I will have my pants on. Though it is tempting! Is it a nail belt or a tool belt? :^)
