Thanks to everyone here for the answers to my questions about building a three seasons room.
<!—-><!—-> <!—->
The construction is finished, now it’s time for the interior finish. The interior trim in my house is all painted plaster and poplar. The exterior, which is also one interior wall in the three seasons room, is grey Nailite vinyl shingles and white Synboard trim. I was going to use all Azek trim on the 18†kneewalls and 4 x 4 beams, and tongue and groove for the gable ceiling, then thought it might be nice to see some real wood for a change. So far, people have recommended stained beadboard for the kneewalls (can be removable for access), pickled knotty pine and bleached t&g ash. I’d appreciate any other recommendations for finishing off the kneewalls, 4×4 posts, window sills, and gable ceiling.

First tell me you're gonna strip that vinyl and synboard off the area inside the porch.
Otherwise you're wasting your time trying to pretty up the rest. Kinda like expecting a decent sound from a quartet made up of Anna Moffo, Richard Tucker, Robert Merrill, and Mrs. Miller....

Dino, about the vinyl; I couldn't agree more.
about your analogy; I couldn't understand it less.
Moffo, Tucker, and Merrill were the three of the greatest singers ever produced by the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
Mrs. Miller is the old biddy from England who became a 30-day novelty hit in the 70s with a recording of Tiptoe Thru the Tulips that was so awful it made Tiny Tim's version sound good....
Sheesh--what's so esoteric about that?? Am I the only kid who ever busted his father's Caruso records by sitting on a stack of them to watch the Mickey Mouse Show? <g>

So I've been an acute PITA for years, and now I'm obtuse?
One of these days, I'm gonna be right.

Well, I wasn't planning to, but I see your point. What would you use to finish it off?
Going with the plaster and wood look you've got inside the house, you might try a stucco paint such as Iso-Tex or PierreTex over plywood panels, then trim out with stained woodwork for a nice contrast. Careful not to raise too much texture with the Iso-tex or it'll look like a tacky 1970s ceiling job....
Another possibility is the beadboard you mentioned, with a heavy, built-up cap on the top of the kneewall.
Still another would be panelled wainscotting. FHB had a cover article about how to do that a year or two ago. Search the archives.
Finally, there is board and batten or vertical shiplap, a very country look if you use unplaned boards.
Hard for me to judge what will look good in a place I've never seen. Don't suppose you could post a few photos?

I understood your analogy perfectly and I thought it was very well put. Oh, and I agree with what you said.
Ahhh, so your father had Caruso records, too!

Not only Caruso but Richard Tucker and the rest. My father had a tremendous voice and sang as a sideline the sacred music and arias for weddings & funerals. I remember seeing him on tv when I was four singing We Could Make Believe. He's been singing in the Angelic Choir for the past 25 years now and I can hear his reverberations every Sunday when I soar with the other tenors. It's a gift to give to others.
I think the only time my father was ever seriously jealous of me was when I got to interview the incredible, incomparable Anna Moffo for a radio program, and even got to kiss her on the cheek afterwards. Whooo-eeee! Dad was a life-long classical music lover who managed to instill that love in me without preventing me from appreciating other music. A priceless gift from father to son....

Perfect. And from the picture I can see that it follows in kind to the next generation.
