whats the going shop rate for plumbers these days. my guy wants $125 an hour for multiple days of work.
actually $250 an hour for 2 guys
sound reasonable?
I dont mind paying that much for a quick service call, I can see the logic in that. I’m talking about a larger remodeling job

Too many skilled people looking for work to have to pay those rates.
Not cheap...just realistic.
$70-75/hr journeyman here. Modest markup on parts.
Its expensive! But its what they get away with!
Even more annoying when they do poor quality work! I've had a few ask "whats a Pre-slope?"
Ok I'll bite (hope that don't get me banned)

What's a "pre-slope''?
I'm the cheapest plumber around, even cheaper than Joe the plumber. Just wish I knew how to plumb.
I'm sure this will remind you.
Under a shower pan before the pan liner.
Ah yes, as my fuzzy mind kicks in
I don't want my plumber doing the preslope... even though he does know what it is

I agree the plumber may not be the best at pre-slope, but he should ask why is it not here to place the pan on!
Found too many where the drain was higher than the pan liner and the weep holes filled with plumbers putty. Great for forming strange ridges between the tiles as the water pushes the minerals to the surface.
now I see where you're coming from:)

In this area the going rates are $65-85/hour, depending on which contractor you hire and whether it's a commercial or residential job.
I charge $40, but I'm not licensed.

that is one steep arsed price...does that include material:):):)even here in AK where there's tons of Davis Bacon, that is unheard of...wanna hire me? I'll give you 10$ an hour off....
All I ever wanted in life was an unfair advantage...
$75.00/Hr is a service call rate. Your job does not sound like a service call. They should give you a quote, but be ready to give or take if the job takes longer or requires more parts & Labour than could reasonably be forecast.
Why aren't you getting fixed bids if it's a large remodeling job? or most any job?
Businesses can figure any hourly rate they want, we do. Give me a fixed price for the job and I'll say yeah or nay
