I’m in the planning stages of remodeling my bath. I’m a finish carpenter by trade. I was looking into 2 piece shower units. I was looking at some at the home cheapo but they offer 2 kinds. acrylic or composite, which one is the better choice?
The heating source in the bath is a 6′ long baseboard. The bath measures 5′ x 9′ would it be worth putting in a small towel warmer that works with the hot water baseboard or should i just get a wall mount vanity and replace the baseboard with high output?? thanks for suggestions

If it were my bath, i'd go with a tile enclosure. I'm not sure what the composite is but i've installed the acrylics before. They're nice but i'd still like tile, more options.
As for the towel warmer, I think it would be cool. If it were mine (once again) i'd probably do it.
I believe you run the towel warmer off the hot for the shower. That way the towel warms as you get clean.
I would think the baseboard would be too hot and someone may walk in and get burned.

We've had a 4-piece fiberglass unit for about 30 years now and I'm very glad to have that instead of tile. It's a little iron stained and the caulk on the door needs redoing every 5-10 years, but otherwise it's still in perfect condition.Of course, this was an old Corning unit and I doubt that they make those anymore.

Okay, at my last house I had a bathroom with a 30 yr old tile enclosure that was holding up as well.
I wasnt telling him not to buy an enclosure, I was just offering my opinion.

I installed a 4 piece Sterling VIckrel. I think that is acrylic. In any case it is monthlic material.
And the design is real nice. You put down 2 small strips of silicon on the base when install it. And that is covered by the side pieces. Other than that it does not use any caulk.
All of the seams are self shielding and self draining.

That's kind of like what I have, only ours is press-molded (vs layed up) fiberglass.
