Seems like i’ve been cussing/sawing corroded bolts ever since i met my first toilet. Is there some reason stainless steel can’t be used for the hardware? I’m looking at building a new house and probably paying a fair amount for a new unit and i’m wondering if higher end units use hardware that i’m not going to get pissed at in 10 years?

Stainless bolts cost more and are harder to cut off. On my lastr bathroom remodel, the plumber (hired by the HO) just grabbed hold of the new bolts and bent them back & forth until they snapped off. I don't know why he didn't use a hacksaw. I would be afraid of breaking the potty, or bending the flange.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
thanks Ed...just seems like there'd be less need for all the cutting if corrosion wasn't such a big factor.
Use solid brass flange and tank bolts, nuts, washers. These will not corrode on you. Avoid the brass-plated stuff, they're made of steel.
I've often wondered why this hardware that claims to be 'brass' always seems to corrode. Maybe the stuff i've used in the past was just plated.
Those packaging folk sure have a lot of brass.
