O.K. here is the deal. I am helping my cousin chew what he bit off. There is an exsisting cast iron drain stack. Has a least six drains and vent lines attached. We need to get the old bronze fitting that is leaded in…out. Lots of lead! The line is 1.5 in into 3 in. The drain from the tub was lead originally, will now be abs. The offending fitting will spin but not come out. Very limited space. Will torching out the lead work? I really do not want to have to replace the main stack. HELP!!!!!!!

This joint will have oakum followed by the lead. You could melt the lead but it can stink as the oakum starts to burn or drill out most of the lead. be careful with removing the rest as the cast iron can be brittle. There is a rubber sleave made to fit inside the hub inplace of the lead and oakum.
destroy the bronz fitting and remove.
colapse the lead and disgaurd appropriatly!!!
remove the oakem if it is not rotten you can reuse.
insert and support new pipe. replace oakem layer by layer ramming each layer with a yarning tool (punch)
when joint is half full fill completely with hydrolic cement.
