I would like to run all of my vents together in the attic space and have one vent penetration. Some of the runs are up to 20 feet long. I will slope everything 1/4 inch per foot, and the pipes are sized properly and I’m putting the horizontal runs as deep into the insulation as possible. My question is… is this a bad idea? Do I really have to worry about condensation freezing inside the vent pipes? Should I make more roof penetrations and just run everything stright up and out? I really don’t want a bunch of extra pipe holes in my roof. Any help from an experienced plumber would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Ken PS: I live in Northern MN.

It's done all the time here, in Tropical Southern Minnesota. And you don't need to insulate the pipes, based on what I've seen.
Same here in SE Idaho, but just about 60 miles N, where we border Yellowstone, and where the elevation is above 6000 ft., with winter temps down to -35, or lower, the jurisdictions require an increase in size for vent terminations.
I suppose this is one of those many plumbing issues that have never been definitively tested; it's just a mix of experience, prejudices, preferences and inspectors' opinions, with a lot of "this is the way we've always done it."
Thanks for the info... Dan H you say you live 60 miles South of Yellowstone in Idaho? Are you near Driggs, ID? I've been a BC skier there for many a years and know lots of people in the valley.
