I’ve been looking for a how-to book on podiums (technically a “speakers stands” aka lecterns) lately. Not the box kind they use in churches. The pedestal kind that looks somewhat like a music stand. The ones I’m thinking of have two platforms, an adjustable one for notes, and another fixed at waste level for reference works. They usually stand on three legs.
Does a book on how to make such podiums exist?

Try the Knots forum - that's the one associated with Fine Woodworking. There is a link near the top of the page. I believe that there have been discussions of that kind of work before - use the search function.
And welcome!
Not what you are looking for, but my all time favorite music stand, this one by James Krenov, 1970, maple and lemonwood. Our kids are grown and on their own now, but both are musicians, and I often thought of making one like it. This is a stand for two, for duet work. Folds down to close, has drawers for music and a metronome case.

Nice.
Here's mine, which could be converted to a podium with a change in the yokes. Would need to eliminate the swivel under the desks, or the notes might go flying. This was made for an exhibit, a far simpler version of my black lacquered commission (no pic).
Krenov's would be far better to lean on.PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
FWIW, I was in Toastmasters about a million years ago. It was drilled into the group that a podium was the small raised platform you stood on (think soapbox); and a lectern was the stand with a slanted top you put notes on and stood behind.
The terms are now often used interchangably, but there really is a difference and purists may bristle. :)
That said, I have no idea about sources for plans for either one....
