I heard something today about polyurethane caulk (sikaflex) and vycor not getting along together, like the solvent in the poly caulk would melt the bituthane.
Anyone else heard of this?

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

I don't know what they used for caulking but I built a deck for my sister and the vycor around the slider had this problem. It looked like acid was poured on the vycor, it was completely disolved where the caulking was. The house is only 2 years old, so it happens right away.

What caulking materials are Vycor Plus compatible with?
Most sealants are chemically compatible with Grace Self-Adhered Flashings provided that the sealant is applied to the high-density polyethylene film component of the flashing. Silicone, Acrylic, butyl, 1-part polyurethane, and 2-part polyurethanes are compatible with the adhesive side of Grace self-adhered flashings if the specific formulation does not contain hydrocarbon solvents.
Yeah, Sikaflex is no bueno. We wound up calling the company at one point (and should do it again). The stuff we use--Sonneborn NP1--is supposed to be compatible, but it's always a good idea to call the company to be sure the specific stuff you use will work.

Thanks (DDay also). I wouldn't have guessed that, I thought polyurethane caulks were a good all around exterior caulk.zak
