IIRC, that was the name Jeff Buck called it.
used for aligning/clamping cabinets
I ordered it through Amazon awhile ago and still not shipped…backordered a couple times
Anyone know if I can purchase it elsewhere, ASAP
other online sites have pushed back the availability date several times…

Install kitchen cabs
Cabinet Claw - Irwin bought them out. When you do get yours, it will probably be blue and yellow.
Thanks
did that affect quality of the tool?
hope not...been told those clamps are the cats meow
Cabinet Claw. Great clamp for aligning/drilling face frames on prebuilt cabs. My tool supplier has them in stock. Give them a call if you're in a hurry.

I just used for the first time a cabinet jack on a kitchen install. Normally I'll install the base cabs first and then use a pounded together stand to place the uppers on, shim and install. Will be reviewing the new system in a couple days at http://www.quittintime.com/

Mucho Thanks Cal
I will call tomorrow, if open, or monday
...oh yeah, being able to predrill correctly...forgot about that
I'm going to install your way, base first and then build a stand.
BTW...glad you posted the link to http://www.quittintime.com/
I was trying to find the place when BT was down. Lost the url since my buddy upgraded this laptop again...30gb hard drive 512 ram...now I can store pics. I do want to store them on a cd still, but no cd burner for now. I see why I couldn't find it, I left off the /
thanks again
I've seen similar clamps at Lowes.
You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

Lowes? Really?
Maybe I'll check, thanks
But I wonder if quality is the same
The standard device for clamping cabinets and other large objects is the pipe clamp. The best ones are made by Pony, and are sold by any decent hardware store. You buy the black iron pipe separately -- have it cut to length and threaded one end at the store.
There are many other, more exotic, styles of clamps. An on-line outfit like rockler.com will have a good assortment to pick through.
The best ones are made by Pony
That's why I want one from them
Thanks for the link...I'll check there too
Here you can get the cabinet claws at HD, Menards, Sears, and a handful of local suppliers. Pretty common thing. And indispensable. I ran into a kid once who hung cabinets for a living (and who since has moved on to something I hope he has a clue about) - but he'd been doing this for a couple of years and looked at me funny when I asked him if he didn't have a set. Anyway, no point. They're useful. I guess I can't believe this place sent guys out to do this without them. And yes, it showed.

the orange store around here has the orange pony's...
the orange store 'round here sells the Pony clamps and not a single accessory! I needed pads since they seems to behave like socks, there's always an odd number. They also make a clamp cradle which makes for a stable clamp bed, if you can find 'em.
If anyone has figured a way to make a spreader with 'em, post it. I've usde 'em as a kind of jack by threading a nipple into the screw end and flange on the end of that.
I just wanted to say nipple, screw and pony to see if the FCC "clamps" down on us.
The compact Pony will work as a spreader. It's the one that has the ends kind of reversed, with the screw on the traveling piece. The fixed end is threaded both directions so you can flip it around, turn around the traveler, and have a spreader.
Also handy for tight spots, as the fixed end doesn't take up much space.
orange store as in HD/big box?
first time I heard that term
I was in the local sears the other day... and it is a pretty small one, and they had face frame clamps.
Sears? There's a mega sears near my job. Haven't been there in years. I'll take a look.
Thanks Cag
Cabinet Claws by Pony ...
as luck would have it ... I spun a bearing in one of my set a coupla weeks ago ....
Damn cheap things only lasted .... maybe 10 or 15 yrs!
Actually ... only one "spun" out ... as I reversed the drill ... it took the inner lining of the drill guide back out with it ...
clamp still functions great.
Have plans to get a second ... ok ... plans are for 2 more sets ...
then I'll still have the intact one from the first set .... plus .. the "extra" clamp only one for that extra hand I always need.
Great tools.
....btw ... crank out the clamp a bit ... and it'll grab thru the hand hole on a 7' Stabila level ... so you can clamp her tight across the face frame ... to check for straightness down the line of base cabs .... helps when an oven or sink base is pulled out 3 or so inches from the rest for appliance clearance ... or visual effect ...
clamp tight to the bumped cab ... and just measure off each side for perfect and easy placement.

Cabinet Claws...I kept thinking cats paw, which I knew wasn't it. I have followed alot of your posts and saved the one with your tips for kitchen cabinet install. That's where I found your recommendation about this tool.
I'm glad the tool lasts for 10-15yrs...the way things are going around here, might be that long before I finish this kitchen LOL, unless my DW wants to do it!! No way will I sub this out though, way too picky. Besides I actually look forward to installing the cabs...it's just the demo, drywall, electrical, etc I would rather have avoided.
Since this will most likely be the only kitchen I ever install, is it worth having 2 sets?
Thanks for that last tip...and all the others too. If you have any about corner cabs...like if I have to scribe to fit...send them my way.
Hopefully I'll have a pair of the Cabinet Claws this week. Have to wait til monday to call the place that Calvin told me about.
Thanks again
I've lived this ling with just one set ...
so one and a handfull of other clamps shoudl do ya fine.
By corner cab scribing .. you mean ... the back ... into a corner that's less than 90?
Me ... and I know this is frowned upon here in fine homebuilding land ...
But I'd rather take it out on the drywall than a nice new cab ...
If the corners are too built up ... or pinched ....
I temp set the cab ... draw some pencil lines ... then cut out the offending drywall.
Usually .... you can just cut thru the top and bottom ... and score the front edge of the pencil line "box" ... and snap the drywall ... making for a hinged flap ... that'll flap right outta the way.
Cut too high or too low ... that's what they make durobond for.
Another tip .... if possible ... make a bigger ledger ...
and attach the two side cabs to the corner cab first ... then lift and set.
That way ... for an odd corner .... the contact points are moved farther away from the actual corner.
Shim the back of the corner cab and screw tight.

Frowned upon? No. I have no respect for drywall behind cabinets. When is the taper gonna learn when it is to the trimmers advantage to not finish coat?
By corner cab scribing .. you mean ... the back ... into a corner that's less than 90?
may not have been the correct term, but more or less...yes
one wall is plumb, the other is 1/8-3/16 out.
your second tip is the answer...that should elimanate the problem.
Thanks
Bob, my supplier is out of the clamps at his toledo store. He might have some in ann arbor of columbus. Give him a call in Toledo, ask for Tim.
Here's something else you might be interested in, tho for the non professional, maybe not a necessary tool.

I didn't see a Toledo store on the link. Only Maumee, Columbus, and Ann Arbor. Can you give me the ph# for Toledo? or is it one of the first two?
Interested in those jacks...most definitely, want to sell them or are they for the highest bidder?

i bought mine in sears they are great !! however there are some limatations to them on certain cabinet manufacturers . i also keep a variety of clamps with me and the old wooden screw types solve alot of problems especially on upper corner cabinets .OH ONE MORE TRICK WITH THE PONY RAIL CLAMP CABINETS IS IF YOU END UP WITH A STUBBORN RAIL PUT A WOOD SHIM BEHIND IT & THEN CRANK IT UP
