Hello all:
Looking to start shopping for an inground pool.
I have no idea what to look for, need help.
What kind of construction is best for in-ground?
What should my major concern be when deciding on type of pool?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Check out "The Pool Maintenance Manual" by Terry Tamminen. It's pretty much the bible for residential pool operations and covers construction, pumps, filters, etc... Not enough to enable you to build your own, but enough to have an intelligent conversation with pool builders.
Requirements and features vary regionally. For instance, in Florida, a screen enclosure is common, in other parts of the country nobody has them because they'd get destroyed by snow and ice.
Get references and find out who the best builder in your area is. Skill and experience definitely make a difference in the end product.
Good luck.
"an inground pool"
Definition: The hole into which we pour money.
I've had success with a salt water pool. It uses an electrolysis unit to split the NaCl bond into free ions. The free Cl- does the sanitizing similar to your usual use of the pool chemicals. The nice thing is that you don't have to fool with those chemicals anymore. Simply toss in enough bags of water softener salt to get to the desired concentration (barely noticable). You'll still have a pool service to watch for mildew, skim, and monitor the equipment, but his job will be a bit easier. You don't get the nasty chlorine smell in your hair or the red eyes.
Include an automatic water fill and overflow. Use pavers as a deck.

Feeling courageous ? Why not put in your own in-ground pool at half the cost. Just recently recieved my pool kit from Polarpools.com 18X36 for about $7000, includes everything but the hole. You provide labor, decking and fence. So far it doesn't seem to require any special skills {my brother is a licensed electrician}, so that end is covered. Good luck.
