We are planning to build a front porch on our new home. We are in a community with a Homeowners Association and we need to discuss with them our choice of materials for approval. We plan to use Tigerwood decking on the floor, because of our love for wood, the durability of tigerwood, and the beauty. The other new homes in the community that have porches, have a concrete slab, because this is what the builder had chosen, most likely for the “low maintenance” factor of concrete. Does anyone have any helpful comments for us to use in defending our choice of the wood? We know the wood is of higher maintenance, of which we are more than happy to do. We do not want a concrete material on the entrance to our house, and need to make a case to the association. Thank you.

When we meet, we say, Namaste'..it means..I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides, I honor the place in you of love, of light, of truth, of peace. I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us.
You're probably gonna lose the arguement. Even if you swear on a stack of Bibles that you'll keep the wood looking good, there's nothing to guarantee that you won't sell the house in a year, and the new owners won't care what it looks like. have you read the homeowners assoc requirements? Does it say that wood is not allowed?
Have you considered stamping a pattern in the concrete, and staining it to look like wood?

I can't believe that the homeowners association would prefer concrete over wood?! There's nothing better for curb appeal than a nice monolithic slab of concrete across the front of a house! (Inject sarcasm)
I don't understand! I cut it twice and it's still too short!
