Anyone know of a portable miter stand (similar to the Delta Kickstand) thats around 300 bucks? Needs to extend to at least 14 feet, hold a Bosch slide, preferably have wheels, and not weigh 500 pounds? I looked at the local tool dealer (Western Tool), and he said the Delta isn’t worth a damn, and showed me what he had,(I thought his was’nt worth a damn)and told me the Delta will bend with hard “push/pull” type stuff and should look elsewhere. My first thought was “how hard can you possibly push/pull before you change the blade?” Aaaanyway…..any knowlege that you guys or girls may have will help…It always does. Thanks in advance.

I'd try getting a copy of the Tool Crib of the North catalog (they might even have it all online now that ToolCrib is part of Amazon --toolcrib.amazon.com). Anyhow, they have several different models, some with wheels by Dewalt, Trojan, Rousseau, and some others. Having used a Rousseau drop in table-saw system for my Makita bench-top, I'd take a dare on their outfit, but I've also used the Dewalt, which is a pretty nifty deal. Of course, you could always make something too...Good luck in your search.
*I like the two saw horses and a board kind of set up. No one ever tried to steal it, and it's very handy for other things too.Ed. Williams
*Chris, we use the Dewalt folding chop saw stand and find it indistructable, lightweight, and easy to load and unload, and set up on rough terraine. It rains alot here (Seattle area) and these stands made from aluninum will not rust. You can also buy extensions with or without legs that slide on easily.
*Chris,Wow, two Chris R.'s on this board, both have Bosch 10" sliders and both looking for a miter stand!!!I've been looking at the one made by Northern Research. Very nice but a little pricey until you compare to DeWalt. Very stable, much better measuring system, more accurate and better portability.I called them about a month ago. They had a sale, the mitersaw attachment, a 9'4" fence and a 5' fence and one stop for around $400.I think I'm gonna get it and set it up so the fence will mount to my 18'workbench when not in use at a jobsite.Chris
*Sorry, I had a brain fart. That company is American Design and Engineering. (They sound alot alike, that's why I got them confused....)chris
