I am looking to purchase a portable planer for the worksite. I am not looking for a hand planer but a portable unit (i.e. 12″ or 13″).
Any suggestions and thanks.

There have been some threads on that here in the past six months, you might get some info in a search of recent posts.
I don't own one but most seem to like the new dewalt a lot, although most say its not super portable at 90 lbs. There were problems right when they first came out but they fixed those problems

I have the Ridgid 13" based on FHB and other reviews that cited good performance, easy blade changing and relative quietness.
Have not had to change blades yet, but it works well and is quieter than any other portable I've been around. It is heavy too (85#).

Ditto what DDay said previously -- none of the "portable" planers are portable. They all weigh too much to be handled very often.
But maybe if you had one of those collapsing roll-around tables like the Rigid or Bosch saws come with, you could mount the planer to the table, and thus have it on wheels. That would be a very good thing. Especially if you have ramps to get the monster into your pickup or trailer.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
Based on reviews and price, I bought a Delta 10 years ago.
It's been used on 2x lumber, oak, mahogany, cherry, etc.
It still works well and the quality of cut is very good.
The newer 2 speed version is supposed to be a bit better still. The other speed is a slower feed.
