Portable toilet cost

dockelly | Posted in General Discussion on October 15, 2006 03:53am

Hi All,

I’ve been looking though the internet for port a john rental costs and the 1/2 dozen or so sites I checked don’t have a rate sheet. Being Sunday, no one around to call either. I thought someone here can ballpark a price for one month rental of a standard unit. The house lifting company sent me a check off list of all that has to be done prior to the lift and they say the health department requires a port a john on site. I am located in NJ, if that matters price wise.

Thanks
Kevin

In the Balto, MD area the going rate seems to be about $100 per month, which includes a weekly cleaning.

Thanks for the info.  Had a freind buy a small house, 2 bedroom, on some cove in Maine.  He lives in West Virginia.  Says he's going to have some work done.  A lot of work from what I gather.  If your interested I'll find out where it's at.

$95/mo with biweekly cleaning, $170 with weekly. One company has the service, with no competition.

didnt realise the cost was so steep i wounder if a composting toilet wouldnt be the way to go

If the OP only needs the porta-john for a month or two, I can't imagine that he could save by using a composting toilet ($1K or more).  Besides, after the month is up, he still has to empty/clean the unit, even if only to put it in storage.  Composting toilets are best used long-term, where the contents can actually, well, turn into *compost*.

composting doesn't happen in winter unless you heat it

Johnny on The Spot is probably the most popular here in NJ, and they typically run around $75-100/month with weekly cleaning, depending on how many units you need, how long you need it for, and where you're located.  If you only need it for a month or two, expect a pickup/delivery charge as well.

Now that's why your rates are so low BB, it's hard to compete with a tree!;)

Actually when you figure the cost for a month it is $100 for BB.And I am really surprised of the how close the cost are around the country. All of them where very close to $100 except for ponytail.

Just like we have our JLC Live, the portajon industry has their own seminar weekend. you gotta go find the best places to buy all the plastic sheds, pumps hoses etc and the chemicals and how to dispose of...

they get you on the daily dumps vs free weekly dumps. I guess the heat would make you dump more.

This is getting a bit tired, but still worth considering...
