So I was wandering through the local flea market and I saw an old tool case. Of course I check it out. It turns out to be a Porter Cable Guild model A-6, which I’ve never heard of, but it’s a PC, so I snag it. Hell, the price couldn’t be beat, it was in a case, it STILL had the wrench…
Anyway, I come home and try to look up some info on it. Nothing except for someone asking the same question on a message board. I’m guessing it’s mid 50’s from the owners manual (yeah, that was there too) but does anyone know more about it? I thought it was strange that I couldn’t find “Bob’sOldPowerToolCollection.Com” somewhere out there. I mean come on, it’s a circular saw! They should at least have a “hall of fame” somewhere on the web.

I can't afford to be affordable anymore
I'm going to take a W.A.G and say it is a circular saw.
Send a note to PC and ask what they know. I have my grandfathers old fixed base jig saw (model 148 I think) and I asked them about the serial no ... they said that all the old records were lost in a fire in the old plant (Syracuse?) but they colud tell me when that model was last made. They also sent along a copy of the original manual and parts list, although that doesn't help much now.
Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell'em "Certainly, I can!" Then get busy and find out how to do it. T. Roosevelt
Yeah, it's a circular saw. 6 1/4" actually. I'll try dropping them a line, thanks.
Can you post a pic for us? It sounds like an interesting item.
