Need to relocate a powder room into a narrow space — about 7 feet long and only 40 inches wide. Entrance door is on one of the 40″ walls. Toilet will go at one end of the room directly across from the door. Is there a minimum clearance past a sink? I can probably find a sink about 14″ deep, leaving about 26″ of clearance past it. Recognizing that codes vary nationwide, is this typically a problem? Thanks.

Seriously consider the tank top replacement with a lav built-in.
Meets code and is coolness itself. Incoming tank fill water automatically comes out of the faucet; drains into the tank.

Toilet in a powder room
Why not put it in the head? Be easier to keep the powder dry that way.

The uniform plumbing code requires a minimun of 24" in front of stool for clearence.
That is one rule I know well.
i have seen in some very tight spaces... some very small sinks... think stainless and an RV or boat... you can also if you get lucky set the sink back between studs and gain about 2.5 inches... i've also seen a 10" wide sink that was about 24" long and wall mounted.... you actually have alot of room for a small powder room... now you have to figure a way for it to "feel" larger...
