Today had an occassion to try the Porter-Cable Power Sander on walls only. We used 100 grit sanding disc, just a few observations:
– Any way to speed this up over final coat with light mud?
– The sanding on walls was excellent, but does it tire one out doing ceilings?

Speed it up over light mud?
I have used mine on topping compound, but ussualy slow the speed down to reduce the possiblity of over sanding, and use a 120 grit paper.
Doing ceilingings is tireing, especialy if you have to work from a scaffold, but IMO the trade off is worth it. Very little dust and a faster job. Helps if you can have someone relieve you every 30 min. or so. I can normally do a moderate size room ceilng in that time or less if I just grit my teeth and work untill my muscle start to burn a little.

An awesome tool for those smaller remodeling jobs where you do not want to hire a sub to tape and sand. It will pay for intself in short order with the money that you save as we all know that "time is money." The vacuum by itself works great attached to other tools like a sander to help keep down the mess. There are lots worse ways to throw your money.

Thanks for the tips fellas! It sure does a nice job sanding. In renovation work whether residential or commercial, the lack of dust is a mighty big plus. I'll speed it up next time and try 120 grit. Like any new tool, it takes a while to get accustomed to it; however, me and another guy got the jist of it immediately.
