10th Anniversary International Preservation Trades Workshop (IPTW 2007)
The 10th annual International Preservation Trades Workshop (IPTW 2007) will return to Frederick, Maryland October 11-13th. The Preservation Trades Network (PTN) and the National Park Service Historic Preservation Training Center will present three days of demonstrations, workshops, and special events including the 1st Career and Education Fair for the preservation trades and allied disciplines. For the last 10 years PTN has offered the International Preservation Trades Workshop (IPTW), the only annual workshop in North America dedicated to sharing the knowledge and skills of all of the traditional building trades with tradespeople, contractors, architects, conservators, preservationists, students and anyone interested in preserving architectural heritage. The HPTC facility at the historic Jenkins Cannery will be the main venue for a bigger and more diverse group of demonstrations, presentations and workshop sessions than any previous IPTW. Veterans of past IPTWs and many new, first-time presenters will offer interactive “hands on†demonstrations of timber framing, carpentry, plastering, brick and stone masonry, painting and decorative finishes, wood carving, roofing and metal work, cemetery conservation and many other trades. Other sessions will cover building assessment and documentation, safe work practices, education, sustainability and much more of interest to the preservation community. www.iptw.org
