I have read the article (Pressure Treated Wood The Next Generation) and followed the Breaktime discussions. But I need some more information. At work I have brought up the subject that our staples and nails are only adequate for CCA treated and not the newer types. So here I am needing to put some actual numbers and documentation to the corrosion issue.
In a warm, damp, salt water environment how long will a 16 gauge galvanized staple last? I am figuring not long. Around freshwater will the life be that much longer?
Presently we are using a bunch of Paslode 3200’s with 1/2″ crown 1 1/2″ 16 gauge staples. Does anyone have a good source of stainless steel staples? I don’t think they even make hot-dipped staples.
All of the articles that I have found so far say we need better fasteners, but I need some photos or numbers.

Check these two. Also, most of the boxes of nails will say something about its ok for ACQ if it is.

I have already found those sites. What I would like to get my hands on is the equalent of "This your brain, this is your brain on drugs" photo's or article. Something that I can show or have them read.
From what I've heard and read, it won't take very long for them to get the lesson anyway. If there is an application where you/they have used those staples in ACQ more than about two months ago, all you need to do is go dig one of those staples out.
If the articles are correct, the two month old staple will have significant rust. Show it to your bosses, then point them to some articles.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
Thanks
