My wholesale place just quoted me almost $500 for a 30 foot run, that’s like $16.50 a foot! Last time I looked at this it was around $6 foot.
makes me tempted to use the cheaper 4/0 aluminum and make lug tightening part of the maintenance list.
I’m connecting a meter base on the attached garage to a subpanel inside the house, might look for a closer spot for the subpanel…

The price of copper is nuts...last summer it jumped up to about three times what it had previously cost, then it came down to about double during the winter, but now it's starting to go up fast again.
I was talking to one of the electricians I work with the other day, and he said 500MCM copper is running about $8/ft for a single conductor right now; for a 400 amp three phase circuit you need three of them, plus a ground wire, plus the conduit, plus the installation cost, so it adds up real fast.
