good morning —
Thanks for all of the great advice so far. Still searching for my elusive and terrific electrician 🙂
In the meantime, the PO had some back steps rebuilt about 6 years ago. Someone did do a very nice job on these. However, (so like her!), she did not pay to have the wood primed and stained/painted. So it is just bare wood, exposed to the elements.
We’re going to have to make it at least 4-5 more winters with these steps before we can tear off and rebuild that portion of the house. Is it any use even trying to protect these steps now? After all of this time? The perfectionist in me is itchin to run to get something to put on there. But I need a “professional gut check.”
The wood seems to be pressure treated at least. The bottom two steps have finally gone a little concave in the middle, just a tad, just enough to hold a bit of water after a rainstorm.
agh.
thanks.

If it's PY, and if you are tearing them out in a few years, no sense doing much to them unless the appearance bothers you
