I am building my own house and will be drywalling soon. I have never used a pro-drywall box (tapetech, etc.) for mudding. How much of an advantage are they. Downside? Worth the money?

Is that like a banjo?
*no, it is a dedicated tool for applying mud over the tape to finish the joint.... The pro's also have a completely automatic taper that is a significant improvement over the banjo
*You mean like a bazooka? I used to always hear that the Mafia owned all the bazookas and a normal guy couldn't get ahold of one.
*I heard where the company that made the old banjo I used to have was being sued by some guy who said it destroyed his shoulder due to bad design. Thought mine was kind to me considering the alternative. Was thinking about getting another. Wish I'd never learned how to hang rock although that and the GI Bill got me through school. One of those jobs where once you know how to do it, for the rest of your life you have to lie when people ask you if you can. Guy that taught me how to hang rock had days when he couldnt get his arms above his shoulder.Dont have to be hit with a lightning bolt, JonC
*I think that this is the wrong area to get info on professional automatic taping tools. I tried some time ago and got no valuable feedback. I have used Premier tools, and they seem ok. I think that whatever brand you use, you can get comfortable and efficient with. Any of these tools take a lot of experience to get efficient with. If you live in a metro area, you may be able to rent them. If it is a one-time project for you, I would suggest hiring a professional taper.
