I bought a Bostitch RN46-1 and it has problems. It is almost brand new, hardly used at all, bought on eBay.
The problem is that it bends nails over as it drives them. The feed mechanism doesn’t push the nails out far enough into the drive chute where the driver will hit them squarely. The nails are only partially into the drive chute and the driver hits them on one side. This bends over a lot of nails. I have another Bostitch gun, the RN45 and it works perfectly with any kind of nails. It is the previous model. This RN46 is their newest model, only out for about a year.
I talked to Bostitch’s tech support dept and they said I had to use only their Bostitich nails. So I hurried down to Lowe’s and bought their nails and although it didn’t bend over as many nails, it still bends over one in 8 nails. Bostitch says they haven’t had any reports of problems with the guns. But another tech person there said they know the gun won’t shoot Grip-Rite nails. So that is why that said I had to shoot only their nails.
I have never seen a nailgun do this.
If you have any experience with the RN46 or if you have a solution for me, please post it.
thanks so much
