I’m insulating the exterior foundation walls of our new two story drive out garage with 2″ of foam. What is the best way to protect it? I was thinking of champhering the top edge of the foam and covering it with aluminum coil stock with two 45 degree bends and installing it underneath the sill plate and down to below grade. What do you think? Thanks.

If the sill plate is ACQ treated no, the ACQ will eat the aluminum. They make a vinyl deck ledger flashing that is compatible with the treated lumber. Use that up behind your house wrap.
It's only an 1-1/2" wide though so it won't cover the whole top edge of your foam either.
Years ago we used a Dry-vit type brushed on cementitious mixture. It was over a fiberglass mesh. Can't remember what it was called, but it worked well. Try DRY-Vits site?
