In the article, Save time with Factor-Frame floors ( FHB number. 189), on page 83, the guy in the top left corner is using something like a pry bar, to tighten the floor assembly, can i buy that, it looks homemade, would be great to pry walls back on the chaulk-line once there up???

Winner by a nose.
That's gotta be a record of some sort. Same picture, same minute posted.
That is a baby version.. Pics are what we use for 2x6 or 8 decking here. Decking was real common as sub floor and roofs some years ago. Sledging into place and toe nails only goes so far , this really works. The blue one on the left is a factory version with a sliding "jaw".
The one on the right was home made and came into my possession probably 30 years ago.
I have pulled all sorts of stuff using these, but there is no match for them when it comes to pulling T&G decking in place. Someone here (Gene Davis maybe? )was asking about using 2x decking recently and I mentioned this tool to them so thought I would post a pic.
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
Hopw does that work? Do you put the fixed point into the gap between two previously nailed boards and use the hinged point to pull on the loose board?"Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
"When asked if you can do something, tell'em "Why certainly I can", then get busy and find a way to do it." T. Roosevelt
Well you have to have some decking laid to give you a platform to use the tool on. Then You lay out 2-4 or boards (Depending on how straight they are.)
Yes the hinge is what gives you the ability to draw the pieces together. Hook the hook or "Jaw" over the furthest board away from you and slam the pointed end of the handle into the deck where it gets a bite. You have to learn to lean the handle toward the loose boards as you slam it down so as to maximize the drawing power and length but that only takes a few times to figure out
Then just reef back on the handle.
Helper runs along and face nails everything into place.
Because the 2x decking was used as subfloor or roof deck it was never a worry to have the holes from the point in the deck.

Thanks for the pics. They look like they could also double as a medevil torture device! LOL! I love old tools like that. It looks like you could really get the boards pretty tight with those.

this ?
I don't know the name of it but it look like a puller of some kind. It looks like you stick the sharp ends in each panel and then pull them together.

Fred,
I believe that is called a peavey. I googled "peavey framing tools" and came up with this website.
http://www.traditionalwoodworker.com/product_info.php/cPath/36_307_464/products_id/3349
You could probably make a simpler version for less money.
You cannot convey tone in an email.
The original tool, the inspiration for this tool, was a peavey (about 4-5' long), used for rolling logs in the woods. You'd roll the log, take its wallet, and run.No, wait. It WAS a log-rolling tool. That much is true. Still is, for that matter.Little Pee-Vee is the brand name for the wall-framing tool that I own (or owned). Different use, but same mechanical concept, hence the name.AitchKay
Peavy--similar, but not to be confused with, a Cant Dog.
Those are both great names. Now we get boring names like "PLS" and "SCMS".
I used to know that stuff. Peavey"s got a spike tip, cant dog doesn't?AitchKay
Correct. I think one of them can have a sliding hook as well but I'm not sure which one.

.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
That reminds me, where the heck did mine go? When I saw this post, I realized the I haven't seen it in a year or so. Durn.
