From what I've seen they are very similar. That being said, I've never seen anything but alumapole in the field. I don't know about werners customer service, I know alumapoles is great. I think they were be much easier to get anything from and I think they would be much more likely to stand behind their product and the warranties.

I just purchased an alumapole setup last summer. I looked at Werner and they seemed pretty good. But I like the way alumapole will "nest" the planks together if using more than one. I also thought their walking surface was a little better as far as traction and liked the large holes for clearing snow/ice.
I also like the idea of the safety fence and end fence/guards (although I haven't purchased them yet). I don't recall if Werner offered the fence or not.
Two minor complaints about my setup:
- the lags that they supply and recommend using to secure the braces; I had two of them shear off while trying to install them with my Dewalt 12v impact driver. Now I use GRK structural screws.
-the feet they supply for the bottom of the poles seem a little small to disperse the load, so I modified them to fit into Qualcraft brackets that stake into the ground. It gives me extra piece of mind.
For me, it finally came down to who could supply the system sooner. I found ABC Supply stocks a lot of the Alumapole stuff and I was able to pay for it on a Friday and it was delivered to my jobsite on Monday. Whereas, the Werner was going to be special order and I would have to have picked it up.
hope this helps.
