Hi Gang,
In the past I’ve installed contact sensors at doors, that have the wires molded in the sensor….you just strip and splice them to the wire feeds to the alarm panel.
Well..I see know that they ofer these sensors with screw posts..so you just strip your wire feeds and loop and then screw them on the sensor.
Well any one have any thoughts on pros and cons of the two types?
Thanks for reading.

Screw terminal connections are not my favorite, especially if you use stranded wire. With stranded wire you should solder tin the strands before putting under the screw. Better yet use a small crimp eye on the end of the wire. Even then solder the crimp eye. There are screw terminals that you do not put the wire under the screw but into a clamp that is screw tightened, this is the preferred screw connection type.
With the pigtail version, you do want to hide the splice somewhere, either in a jbox or stuffed into the door jamb etc.
By the way, get yourself an assortment of small one hole straps to clamp your exposed wiring to the door jambs, etc. Neat, tight and secure is the word here. Hard to find the one holes unless you want boxes of 1000, from telco supply.
