Can this type of single pane aluminum window be replaced with double pane windows? The one shown here is actually 1 of 3 that are mulled together. Total opening size is about 8′.
I’m wondering if new ones can be installed under the brick like the current ones are.
Hoping to cut energy cost.

Is the pix of an office building or your own home?
If home, would not replace, would add magnetic strip to outside edge of existing window and install magnetically attached/sealed 'storm windows'. Just as good of energy savings as normal double pane, plus you wont have to replace the whole expensive kabob in 25 years, just clean the insides every 5 or so.
If office and few windows, tax deduction for heating may make replacement or adding 'storms' a 'never break even' proposition depending on heat source and energy costs in our locale.

Yes ... just order replacements and work from the inside.
I disagree with the advice about the magnetic storms ... my area gets lotsa winter weather ... and storm windows are just that ... temporary storm windows ... magnetic or not.
If you really need double pane windows ... only factory double panes will help.

I was on efi.org website and saw that they had a link to a company that makes internal storms.http://www.windotherm.com/index.htmThose are energy star rated and approved for some rebates.
coupla places used to make them ... not sure who all does now.
I think Sears was pretty big in that market at one time.
