My house was damaged in hurricane Ivan and had to replace about half the ceiling in one area. I removed the pop-corn that was on the old ceiling and want to stipple (sp?) the ceiling. Can I roll the mud on with a paint roller and then stipple with the brush? What mud should I use – premix all purpose or what?
I guess I’ll have to experiment with trimming the brush to get the pattern I want – any suggestions?
I am having to do most of repairs myself – all the pros are overloaded, could be a year getting someone to do the work.

There are ceiling brushes of differing shapes. You can thin down ready mix, dob the pattern on the ceiling with the brush screwed to a pole. Random is easier than a set pattern. You can practice, scrape off with a trowel on the ceiling or a scrap of sheetrock.
Google, but don't just use texture brushes..........you'll get all sorts of computer tools, try plaster texture brush.
