Any suggestions for washers/dryers that are quieter than average, in order to be used in noise-sensitive locations (near a bedroom, a media room, etc.)?

We have a Frigidaire front-loader - it is very quiet. You can get the same model as a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or GE - it's also stackable. We think it's worth it to get the one with multiple spin options and temperature control (i.e. one where "cold" is really "tepid" so the detergent always disolves).

I find DW can be quiet if she wants to. A couple of warnings about banging the washboard around, and she straightens right up...............(-:
Sarcasm is just one more service I offer.

In his first interview since the stroke, Ram Dass, 66, spoke with great difficulty about how his brush with death has changed his ideas about aging, and how the recent loss of two old friends, Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, has convinced him that now, more than ever, is the time to ``Be Here Now.''

Get the latest issue of consumer reports. They rate washers and dryers including their noise level. In general, front-loaders are quieter than top loaders, but some top loaders are just as good.
Andy,
Thanks! I've done some looking and some models are labelled as "quiet" in the brochures ands websites, but no idea how quiet they actualy are (no dBA rating are given). I'll pick up the mag.
