On the heating calculations worksheet I have, you need the r values of the windows and doors to fill it out, but the windows at HD and Lowes show U values. Is there a way to get the r value from the u value? Does anybody have a website that has a chart or something? Thanks in advance.

U value and R value are reciprocals.
U = 1 / R
R = 1 / U
the windows at HD and Lowes show U values
That's so they look better with those nice high U values.
No real surprise, there, even a 1" thick multipane glazing unit does not have anywhere near the mass of 4" of wall.
Just one of those things that has always tickled (not, per se, humorously) me--seeing much rigamarole and hoop jumping for R-xx walls, only to see 40-55% of the wall be filled with R-3 glazing . . .
