Have you Googled for rabbit cage plans? I see rabbit cages in Countryside magazine from time to time. Used to see them in Organic Gardening magazine. They may still do that sort of thing, I just don't read the magazine anymore. Also, check the ads in Countryside. I've seen ads in there for specialty rabbit magazines, which could be a source for plans. Look for sites that discuss raising rabbits for meat. People who are doing it for money have an incentive to come up with cheap durable, cage designs. You might want to advertise in the paper. I'm sure there are people who start raising rabbits and then stop when it's not fun anymore or their kids get driver's licenses or whatever. Any organic food stores that sell rabbit meat? They might put you in touch with growers.
I went to a pet store and they sold them. Just go check them out and make one of a simular design small or large.

- hutch started as a sheet of 5/8"; ripped down the centre to make 2, 2' strips; then recut to make 3, 2' x 4' pannels (top, bottom, and back) and 2, 2' x 4' pannels (ends).
Adjust the back pannel to fit into the box and you now have a ridgid 5-sided box.
A small pannel (full-height, but maybe 12-14" wide) is put into one side of the opening and cleats are put on the floor and under the roof so that 2' tall by 16" deep 1/4 ply pannel can slide in at right angles to the short front pannel to create a private area that can still be easily opened for cleaning but leaves a passage-way along the back wall for them to get in and out.
A simple door made of 1" by 3" and chicken wire, hung by two hinges, and secured by a latch completes the hutch (make sure the latch is secure and can't be easily reached by the inmates - rabbits are both smarter and stronger than many people realize).
If it's cold, a piece of tarp over the door helps, and put in more straw/bedding.
