I have heard various opinions regarding which floor coverings can be installed over radiant flooring with many different answers. My question is which flooring samples should a person consider, or avoid, when installing a floor covering over an in-floor radiant system embedded in Gypcrete?

It's gonna be difficult to successfully nail traditional 3/4" T&G hardwood down over gypcrete. Hear tell gypcrete doesn't hold nails very well and the risk of penetrating the tubing with the nails is high, as it's hard to locate the tubing once it's in the gypcrete. Unless sleepers were installed in the gypcrete....so that just about rules out that option.
I would look at the higher-end click down flooring products that float over the subfloor. Cork is nice. Some of the laminates are good...but keep in mind that even with the best floating installation, some people are going to find walking over a floated system objectionable.
Probably the best option over gypcrete is ceramic tile, slate, or stone thin-set on.
Buy this guide from the Radiant Panel Association

It is well worth it.
My understanding is that with tile over gypcrete, you should first lay down an anti-fracture membrane.
Just get that guide. Trust me. It is extremely helpful.

I second Paula's advice. It's a very good guide and very cheap.-------------------------------------
