I am in the market for a new tile saw. I do enough tile work during the year that an upgrade is warranted at this point.
Weight is an issue as much of the work I do is in reverse living houses which are up on pilings. Bottom line is I carry a lot of my equipment up three levels. I am looking for a saw in the 50-65 lb range.
Obviously price is also a consideration. The models I am conisdering are in the $500-650 range ($10/lb?)
One of the models I am looking at is the Felker FRS26 rail saw. It seems like a good choice for what I am looking for, but I have not seen many people using rail (or bridge) saws. Anyone have any input or comments on them? Any suggestions on any other saws would also be apprecaited.
Thanks,

Nice looking saws, but the $1,400 price tag is out my range now.

not that it helps that price range ...
but I'm set on the DeWalt as my next tile saw.
around $900 ... haven't checked lately to see if it's available recond'd yet.
I've heard lotsa good about it ... light weight as possible, decent power
nice plunge feature ... and supposed to have great "no spray" performance.
the no spray and light weight are the two biggest sellers for me ... talked to one guy who does similar work as I do ... "remodeling tile" ... usually working in occupied homes. He said he's gotten used to throwing down a clean plastic tarp ... then some drops ... and working no fear over hardwood floors.
that'd be a little nicer than cutting, down 3 flights of stairs in the middle of a Pittsburgh winter!

You see that DW saw in person and your sold. It's really got some cool features on it.I'm using an MK560 (660?) that I bought from HD rental.Wouldn't use it over a hardwood floor no matter how many drop cloths.JT
Dressed in hip waders, poncho and a So'westers hat with full face shield. Been there, done that.
That DeWalt unit sounds interesting.

don't forget the most important for winter cutting ...
neoprene gloves!
best tool I ever bought! (stored smartly with my "tile tools" ...)

I appreciate all the feedback, but I still have not heard anything for or against rail saws. Any comments on them vs the standard models?
