I am planning to add a tile floor to a basement bathroom that curently has a carpet over concrete slab floor now. I assume that I need to put tile under the toilet and I am looking for ways of raising the closet flange to accommodate the thicker tile floor. Any easy ways of doing this? Thanks.

Normally, there's enough slack to pull it up and shim underneath it and rescrew the flange to the subfloor.
Sometimes, you can simply remove the toilet and after you have finished tiling, put down a double wax seal and squeeze that sucker down and the seal will be fine.

*Not seeing how your flange is positioned now.......But, if the flange sits on the concrete floor now, the top of the flange will probably end up pretty close to flush with the surface of the tile when you get through and you won't have to do anything to the flange. Use the wax ring with the embedded plastic horn and new bolts and you're done.If that's not the case then you can get a flange extender, which is basically a 1/4" thick spacer that just sits on top of the old flange. The bolts are still captured by the old flange, no special hardware involved. The wax ring provides all the sealant necessary although some recommend applying some butyl between the rings.
*Cyrus, don't let no dogs with tennis balls in there while you're working. Joe H
*Wouldn't have a dog with balls that big.J.W.
*CyrusWhen I run across this problem I usually use a double wax seal also. With one change though. I put a regular wax seal down first and then I use a Kant-Leak wax seal this keeps the first wax seal from squishing into the drain and restricting the flow.
*Thanks to everyone who answered my call for help. It sounds like this shouldn't be too big a problem. Famous last words.Cyrus
