I installed (and grouted) the majority of our bathroom floor approximately 5 months ago. I could not finish the entire floor because I was waiting on several back-ordered specialty tiles. Approximately 1 month ago I installed and grouted the remaining portion of the tile. However, the newest grout appears to be slightly darker than the previously installed grout (I should have known better).
My question is this… can I just grout over the entire surface with a thin layer of new grout to ensure the whole thing will be the same color, or do I have to worry about digging out some of the old grout first. Does your answer change if a portion of the older grout has been sealed? Finally, if you suggest the “digging out” option, what is the best way to do this?
Thanks for your help!!!

Dig it out. A thin skim coat of grout will be prone to spalling.
