   One of the beautifull things about Andersen is that you can still get parts for any window they ever made. Not alwyaas easy, but doable. I just did some rebuild work on Wood Andersens from 1973

   Unfortunately, I have Andersons.  They went out of business.

   Are they Anderson's or Andersen's???  Andersen windows are the very popular brand and I don't think they are out of business---check their website or do a Google search.

   I never heard of them though. Andersen is a great company.

   If these are fairly standard double-hung windows then you can buy some slides that are intended to retrofit the old sash-cord style wood windows. It might take some creativity to make them fit, but it's worth a try.

   Check with any full service lumber yard (especially one in a neighborhood where lots of older homes are being rehabbed). If they don't carry them they should at least have them in a catalog.

   If the sashes are still good, build yourself some new wood cases.  Your local glazier should be able to supply you with new weatherstrip that you can install to the new cases, so they'll be close to the original weathertightness if you're careful.
