Are the standard 15amp receptacles, sold in bulk, at your local home-improvement center rated for 20amp feed-through or does one need to be using a 20amp receptacle, assuming one is on a 20amp circuit?

i've heard they're actually mechanically/electrically identical in many, if not most, cases but i'm guessing the inspector will only pass the officially marked ones.

There is no 20 amp version of the cheap (39 cent) consumer grade version.
But they are rated for 20 amp feed through, using the screw terminals.
But as said it is better to just pig tail them.
thanks for the clarification.

The 15 amp receptacles will not accept plugs for appliances rated for 20 amps - they are the ones with the "sideways" prong and will only fit in a 20 amp rated receptacle

Bob, he is questioning the feed-through rating, not plug-in rating.
Buster, do yourself a favor and pig-tail instead, no question of feed through then. You will thank yourself when you have to replace the cheap receptacles, :-).
