Recommend a knowledgeable RFH sub in PDX
My sister is hoping to heat her latest home with RFH and has been asking me if I have any knowledge to impart.
The main thing I have gathered from skimming over an occasional RFH thread is that good design is critical so I am hoping someone can offer a recommendation or two for a knowledgeable/experienced RFH designer/installer.
I will throw in a few more details in case anyone is inclined to offer an opinion on the suitability of RFH in her application.
She and my BIL are in the process from downsizing to a 700 sq foot house (with full basement they plan on finishing and heating with RFH as well). The house was built in 1926 and has the original fir floors on the main floor.
They are lifting the house 18″ next week to create standard height ceilings in the basement so they could easily pour additional concrete to cover PEX in the basement.
The house currently has the original double hung single pane windows and is minimally insulated.
Their remodeling is necessitatiing removal of the existing ductwork for the FA heat and they are willing to spend some extra money to reap the benefits they have heard RFH will provide.
This house is in SE Portland, OR.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and recommendations.

You should be able to hook up with a good designer vis this organization:

You are correct to get some design assitance here, as it will be a bit tricky to get the right mix of radiant panels, heat source, and controls that will provide comfort for that sized dwelling in that climate.
