We have been getting little specks of green mold in our ice cubes, produced from our refrigerators ice making machine. I read somewhere that the water supply line to the ice maker / water should have a secondary filter installed?????
How can I tell if there is one. Where do they usually locate/install them? At copper feed line entry point to back of refrigerator? somewhere in copper flex line? If it appears there is no filter for the water supply line for the ice maker, what is the procedure for installing one? level of difficulty?

Barrel looking gizmo in the water line sats filter on it... Usally white...
If you got one... Change it....
Plan "B" check the owners manual and seee if you have one built into the system...
New install is cake and pie... Buy an inline cartrige and it come with all the hardware and instructions... Look for a 2 or 3 micron carbon / phosphate... 1st tray or 2 of cubes will look freckeled unless you run a little water thru it before final hook up..

Is the mold inside the ice cubes or on the surface? If it is inside, the source is the water. However, if it is on the surface, it is likely growing after the ice has been made. That is, it didn't come in with the water, but came from inside your fridge.
ummm..I don't think mold can grow at 2 degrees above zero.

Isn't freezer burn more or less like sun burn? Just smear a little aloe vera on, good as new. As always, thaw slowly in the frig so that the out parts don't rot before the middle is thawed. It'd be such a shame to thaw out granny after 30 years only to have her die of gangrene a few days later. You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams

Oh no! You're not going to turn this thread political, are you? ; )You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams
More likely the zero was supposed to be a degree symbol or a capital C. -18C is 0F.
Thanks for posting the likely and reasonable explanation. You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams
-180? You certainly have got my interest. Where did you come by that information?
Hey, you could make dry ice at home! You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams

the mold is inside the ice cubes
You should not need a special filter for an ice maker. It's the same water you drink and bathe with all over the house. If there was unsanitary stuff in the water you'd have a bigger problem on your hands.
It could be that your icemaker mechanism needs to be cleaned and sanitized. I've never seen it necessary on a home unit, but on larger units, like in hotels, there is a little heater which melts the cubes just enough for them to pop out. Sometimes this is enough heat for mold to grow on the trays or mechanism. Scrubbing with water with a little dish soap and just a little chlorine bleach will clean it. Rinse well.
The other possibility is that it's bits of copper corrosion from your plumbing. A filter would take it out, but it would be better to eliminate the corrosion in the first place.
When you melt the cubes, are the little green things hard or soft? Corrosion would be hard.
