Got my new Bostich framing gun yesterday. In the paperwork it mentioned a few accesories. The usual kind of stuff, oil etc. What really caught my eye was the remote controll. What the heck is that? Can I nail off fascia from my truck? This is gonna be bigger than the invention of plywood.

used to be you could make a joke with this,but now have to be polictically correct. how many idoits does it take to nail on fascia? 2 one to hold the gun and one to push the remote control button! think about it this is a bad thing, unions get a hold of this and 1 guy won't be able to run a gun. there will the locator/placement personel,and the electrical button egineer,cost to run a nail gun will go to 60.00 hour. larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
nah. it's common on my remodels. I just take the shock collar off of the dog and put it on my assistant (while my assistant Rob nails the wall studs in, I'll stand by with this remote to ensure he doesn't f-up) :>}
Seriously now, I've been in many woodworking plants where nailers are rigged and jigged for special applications....Loewen Windows has a room with many stations with guns runing back and forth on rails.....all the operator has to do is fir off the nail or stpale. Have also seen several set-ups for making RTA economy wood shelving units from 1 x 4's with a multiple guns all rigged up. Palletmaking may be another application, although some of the operations I've seen use robot nailers.
Anyway, I can see where a remote control might be very useful in situations like that.cabinetmaker/college woodworking instructor. Cape Breton, N.S
The remote is a long shaft that locks onto the handle to allow the nailing down of sub-floor etc from a standing position. It looks like it would be pretty handy.
Thanks trickey for answering my question. I regretted (but only a little) getting cute in my origional post. Guess I got what I asked for.
It does sound like a possibly useful accesory.
