We are adding a second story to my son & d-in-laws home. The Present house is 38X66 block with 10″-14″ of blown cotton insulation. Best price we could get was $1795 and that was only if we used that company to install FG as part of the contract. Since FG is not the insulation of choice I read what had been posted about removing blown in ins. Well, we started today using a Jet 1200 series dust collector and it is slick! cover the dumpster with a tarp and suck out the old stuff. Total material cost is $685.00 (no we do not include our time, trying to do this on a tight budget). and when we get done we have a dust collector for the shop unless be sell the suck-um-up package to the next DIYer. But even if we did figure labor it looks like one man could do the whole project in about 8-10 hours. Thanks for all of the previous conversation about the subject. I will try to post pics this weekend.
