Hi folks,
I need some advise, I have a Pella Designer series sliding glass door and I need to remove it from one part of the house and install it onto the new 4 season room I am building onto the deck.
My question is what are the proper procedures for removing this door without causing any damage? Currently it is mounted onto an exterior brick wall.
Thanks for all your help!

I'm guessing the exterior has no trim and the brick runs right up to the cladding?
More then likely it was installed with "Brick Clips" Pella provides them with their doors/windows for brick installations. I'd start by removing the interior trim and see if I could cut them from the interior with a recep saw and a short blade...
At that point you should also be able to see if the door was screwed in though the jambs though that may be noticable with out removing the trim.
If you end up scratching the exterior cladding Pella can provide you with a touch up can of paint to match, though it won't look perfect
Yes, there is no outside trim and the brick runs right up to the cladding.
I don't see any nails/screws going thru the jamb at all. The width of the rough opening for the door is shorter than Pella specs it to be, so there is very little space between the side jambs and the brick. I can't even get much caulking in there, maybe 1/8 inch.
Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated.thanks for the info.
Take the interior trim off and see if you can see the brick clips from the interior

thank you, i will take the trim apart and let you know. It will be a few weeks before i need to take the door out.
thanks again
One thing I forgot to mention, if it is a brick venner in a relatively new home there is a possibility the door was installed prior to brick work and installed with a metal nailing flange.
If that is the case it is going to be a bear to remove but it is possible. You will need to cut the flange with a recip saw from the exterior. If you have a solid 1/8" gap between the brick and the door you may be able to protect the door frame from the blade wth another piece of sheet metal.
Where are you located?
i can't remember if the door went in first or the brick then the door.i am located in Bethesda, MDthanks
I removed 4 Pella's about a month ago from a window wall. Mine was attached to metal though. They were fastened from the inside of the metal to the jamb.
They were a beech to take out.
