Hello, I have a client who asked me about removing stains from an oak dining room table. I don’t dabble in furniture re finishingg and would appreciate some help – client satisfaction you know. She had previously stripped the table to refinish it. In the meantime, they accidently spilled Easter egg dye(a circular spot about 2″ in diameter and a ring). Is there any products available to lift the dye out without bleaching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Find out what the dye was supposed to be dissolved in, e.g., water, oil, etc.. Then try dissolving the stain in the spoilt area and wash it away with that specific carrying medium. It's bit of a long shot, but worth a wee experiment, and this is essentially the same technique that I use for lightening pigment and dye stains. Sliante, RJ.
*Household bleach will remove anyline dyes without removing the color of the wood. However, you might have a dark stain due to the reaction of the water and the tannin in the oak. I have never used it, but oxilac acid is suppose to be good for that. I don't have any idea what it's affect would be on the oak, but it is the base of some of the "deck brightners".
